Mack: White House Ignores Constitution

Not willing to review constitutionality of individual health insurance mandates

WASHINGTON – Congressman Connie Mack (FL-14) was shocked to hear that White House officials are ignoring the Constitution and are refusing to even consider whether imposing mandates on individuals to purchase health insurance is constitutional. CNS News reported the story, which can be found at http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/56491.

Mack said:

“The Obama Administration’s blatant disregard for the Constitution is nothing new. This is the same Administration that believes that the federal government, and not the free market, is the end-all solution to our problems.

“We are on a slippery slope. Over the last year, we’ve seen the government take over private industries that were ‘too big to fail.’ We’ve seen the Obama Administration spend trillions of dollars on things the American people don’t want, need, or understand. And now we’re seeing the Administration and the Democrats in Congress move to allow the government to make your health care decisions for you.

“The American people won’t be fooled by the Democrats’ new tricks and their attempts to conceal the fact that this is a government-run health care system. They want free-market solutions that keep taxes low, spending in check, and bureaucrats out of the doctor’s office.”
